Wat Arun Rajwararam is one of the most popular temples and also the most photographed temples in Thailand. You have not been to Thailand without having visited Wat Arun in Bangkok. The “Temple of Dawn” is located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River and has a long and rich history in Thai culture.
The Temple was constructed in the seventeenth century however its prang (spires) was only built in the early nineteenth century during the reign of King Rama II. Wat Arun can be accessed rather easily from the river (Chao Phraya River) as there are ferries which travel across the river towards the Maharaj pier. If you are a tourist then the temple charges an entrance fee of about 50 baht. It is the Wat Arun which during Kathina, the King will travel to Wat Arun in a procession of royal barges to present new robes to the monks. Note that this temple is close to the Grand Palace in Bangkok. There are also other temples in Thailand to see such as Wat Yannawa as well as Wat Suan Plu.
