Benjakiti Park

The Benjakiti Park is one of the better known parks locally. There are a number of wallpaper made for PC desktops of it. . . You can see this on the wallpaper page here. The small park is located very close to the MRT at the MRT Thailand Cultural Centre as well as close to the BTS Asoke station if you are willing to walk a bit.

This park has a very interesting history which started in December 1991. The park used to be home to a tobacco factory which moved out of the city centre and it was decided by the Thai government to turn the area into a park. The Bangkok’s Department of City Planning created the layout scheme for the park. In the year 1992 being the year of the 60th anniversary of Queen Sirikit of Thailand, the government then decided to dedicate the park as a tribute to Her Majesty the Queen, who named this public park “Benchakiti Park” and proceeded to preside at the park’s opening ceremony on December 9, 2004. The park as an outdoor recreation area as well as a  health park, playground, walkway, bicycle lane, pavilions and parking space.
