Gateway Ekkamai

The Gateway Ekkamai is a new shopping centre in Ekkamai which is focused on the Japanese market as Ekkamai is home to many Japanese expats in Thailand. The mall is built over 5 floors with a large Home Depot type store at the bottom while the rest of the stores are mainly Japanese orientated. Located close to the BTS Ekkamai Station it is in easy reach.

The first floor of the building is food with a Swensons and maybe Subway as well. The 2nd floor has a few more food options, but the rest of it is all about beauty and healthy living. The 3rd is clothing with a small assortment of boutique shops open. The 4th and 5th floors are all about IT with all the usual brand names you would find in Asia. Its an interesting setup and well worth a trip to the Gateway Ekkamai Mall complex. The Mall is located near to many hotels such as the Sacha’s Hotel Uno as well as the City Lodge Sukhumvit 9 Hotel and the Nantra Ekamai Hotel and Jasmine Resort Hotel .

Around noon on a Friday, I paid a visit to find a pleasantly moderate crowd. If you’re seeking a comfortable spot, the café adjacent to the escalator offers a great place to settle in. On the ground floor, there’s an affordable food court, and an area dedicated to kids’ entertainment is also available. My experience was enjoyable, and I’ll consider returning whenever I’m in need of a relaxing shopping and cooling-off session.

Situated in Bangkok, Gateway Ekamai Mall provides an assortment of features, including budget-friendly eateries, clothing boutiques, health and beauty stores, along with an edutainment center, an extensive IT zone, and even a 24-hour supermarket. Conveniently, a skywalk directly connects this Japanese-themed mall with the Ekamai BTS Skytrain Station. Likewise also see the Ekkamai Bus Station.

Right at the entrance of the mall stands an oversized maneki-neko, symbolizing good luck. Upon entering, you’ll notice origami birds suspended high in the central atrium. Additionally, the mall boasts decorations like replica cherry trees, lanterns, and daruma dolls (Japanese symbols of good fortune), each enhancing the ambiance in different parts of the establishment.
